DR. Jennifer Basdeo-Green, the wife of Mayor of Georgetown Mr. Hamilton Green, heads a list of persons who have been sued by the town clerk for non-payment of rates and taxes to the tune of millions of dollars.The proceedings were instituted at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and have all been fixed for hearing on the 22nd day of October, 2013 at 09:00 hrs in Court 8. These proceedings were filed by former GGG City Councillor and Executive Member, Attorney-at-Law, Mr. Euclin Gomes.
The list of persons and the amount of rates and taxes owed are as follows:

– $5,299,181 from 1997 to 2013. |
It is widely believed that the Mayor has been exerting pressure on the town clerk in his attempt to prevent her from instituting these legal proceedings. These cases have been fixed for hearing.
