FORTY-three-year-old Chatttergoon Persaud, also known as ‘Rajin’ and ‘Fat boy’ of Lot 458 Church Street, Enterprise, East Coast Demerara was last evening knifed to death by a man residents and relatives are describing as a ‘deportee’.This newspaper was informed that the man might have stabbed the father of one because he objected to him accessing his property in Enterprise which is presently under construction. The dead man, it was reported, would usually stay at the house at nights to watch over his building materials for a house he is presently constructing.
Persaud’s family said that from time to time the assailant, who is now at large, would visit the house with a knife and would make threats to the man. It was also reported that the man who is now on the run also stabbed a friend of the dead man a few days ago after the man insisted that he stay away from the property.
Asked what might be the obsession with the ‘deportee’ and the property presently under construction, persons said that he wanted to use it as his boarding place where he could relax and conduct his illegal activities.
Last evening when this publication visited the village, the man’s lifeless body was still lying in the grass at the corner of the road just a few blocks from where he lived and where he was constructing his new home, as a crowd gathered and investigators carried out their investigations.
The deceased is said to be an employee of the Guyana Sugar Corporation who has been away from the job to provide security to his premises.
