In addition, Fly Jamaica as part of its special promotion at the recent GuyExpo 2013 gave away tickets to four Guyanese for a 30-day trip to the United States.

The presentations were made recently at the head office of FLY Jamaica at Ogle, East Coast of Demerara.
Sean Williams, the father of schoolboy Raphael Williams, told reporters that back in 2008 his son who was then attending St. Margaret’s Primary School suffered injuries to his head when a piece of furniture fell on him. The boy had to receive about eight stitches to the wound.

His father said that sometime last year his son began experiencing seizures and despite several local medical interventions, his son’s condition remains the same.
The family was then advised to visit the United States to seek further medical attention but the cost of the air tickets was beyond the family’s financial capacity.
The father said that after hearing about Fly Jamaica he penned a letter to the airline explaining their dilemma. He described the airline’s response as “unhesitant” and he is grateful to them for coming to the family’s assistance in their time of need.
However, when asked how the family will pay for the surgery, the father told reporters that some more medical evaluations have to be done to determine the actual source of the problem.
And if there needs to be surgery he has some finances which he received from his church, First Assembly of God in addition to contributions from his sister and his personal savings.
Meanwhile, in an invited comment, Raphael who is now a student at Christ Church Secondary in Form 3A expressed appreciation to Fly Jamaica for this gesture, adding that the seizures affect him tremendously.
He said that his ambition is to become a businessman in the area of accounting and finance.
The four persons who received their tickets to travel as part of the Fly Jamaica GuyExpo 2013 promotion were Shawndelle DeCruz, Wendell Nelson, Jack Farely and Veron Poompey.
Fly Jamaica which is new on the scene, currently flies Guyana, Jamaica and New York
