SUNRISERS Hyderabad overhauled Trinidad & Tobago’s total of 160 with just three balls remaining to win a thrilling Champions League Twenty20 group stage match by four wickets yesterday.
Darren Bravo got Trinidad off to a great start with a blistering 44-ball 66 with captain Denesh Ramdin and Navin Stewart chipping in with quick knocks of 21 and 17 respectively.
But openers Parthiv Patel and skipper Shikhar Dhawan laid the foundations for a Sunrisers fightback before Thisara Perera fired a half-century to leave them needing seven runs off the final over.
And although the first delivery was a dot ball Karan Sharma fluked a four with the next before sealing victory with a huge six over deep squareleg.
In yesterday’s earlier game, Titans restricted Brisbane Heat to just five runs in the final over to successfully defend their total of 123.
Brisbane had required 10 runs from the last six balls to snatch victory but suffered a dreadful start when they lost two wickets at the start of the over.
That left tail-ender Alister McDermott requiring a six off the final ball for victory, or four for a draw.
But Marchant de Lange grabbed his third wicket of the over to earn a dramatic win for Titans who had earlier struggled for runs themselves with only Henry Davids and Heino Kuhn managing to score over 30.
It was Titans’ first win of the campaign leaving Brisbane in a precarious position after they lost their opening game to Trinidad and Tobago.
