THE People’s Progressive Party (PPP) yesterday offered its congratulations to the new Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Brigadier Mark Phillips, saying it does so with “a sense of national pride”.
The PPP said it is convinced that Brigadier Phillips possesses the professionalism, sensitivity and judgment acquired and sustained throughout his distinguished career in the GDF which will take the army through any future demanding and challenging times.
As the army continues its contribution to national development, the PPP lends its support to Brigadier Phillips.
The party also extended its appreciation to Retired Rear Admiral, Gary Best, M.S.S., for the professional leadership he offered while he held the post as Chief-of-Staff. “Retired Rear Admiral Best demonstrated courage for which Guyana is proud,” the PPP stated.
“His unstinting loyalty to nation-building has been recognised through his substantial contributions to the enhancement of professional standards and capacity-building within the army,” the party said.
The PPP has also noted Rear Admiral Best’s commitment to serve Guyana at other levels even after his retirement.
