RANCHI, India (CMC) – Captain of Trinidad and Tobago Red Force Denesh Ramdin has expressed disappointment with his team’s batting after their 25-run win over Brisbane Heat in their opening match of the Champions League T20 here on Sunday.
Ramdin, who top-scored with 48 from 38 balls, was the only batsman to pass 20 runs as the Red Force posted 135 for nine at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium.
“It was disappointing batting at one end and seeing so many wickets fall on the other end,” said Ramdin.
“What was hard is knowing that the guys who were at the other end are capable men with the bat. We needed partnerships and this is what we did not get and that is why we made that score.”
However the Red Force skipper was high in praise for his bowlers particularly Ravi Rampaul who rebounded from injury to take four wickets, receiving support from Sunil Narine who took two for 25, Rayad Emrit two for 26 and Samuel Badree one for 16 as the Titans were restricted to 110.
“We have a very experienced and attacking bowling line-up, so I was pretty confident going out there to defend. I asked Ravi what he was going to do for us, seeing that we had 135 runs to defend,” said Ramdeen.
“He said he wanted wickets and this is what he gave us. He came back nicely after injury with four wickets and this was great. I think the bowling for Samuel Badree at the top of the attack was also crucial.”
Red Force will now turn their attention to Mohali in Chandigarh, where they will come up against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their second match today.
