Heavy rain forces abandonment of both games

(CRICINFO) – Heavy rain in Ahmedabad yesterday washed out both games on day three of this year’s Champions League T20, with Lions captain Alviro Peterson having just enough time to win the toss and electing to bowl against Perth Scorchers, before the persistent deluge arrived to wipe out any chance of play.

Ground staff covered the square immediately after the toss, but the fourth match of the Champions League T20 was called off around 90 minutes later, with the ground having taken on a great deal of water.
The rain refused to let up, and resulted in the calling off of the next game about half an hour before its scheduled start.
The four teams – Otago Volts and Mumbai Indians were to play the second game – took two points each and Mumbai now have just two points from their first two games after they lost their opener to Rajasthan Royals, whilst this was the first match for Lions, Otago and Scorchers.
