A COUPLE, who were in court because the husband faced two domestic violence charges, have been ordered to attend marriage counseling.
Robert Barran, 40, of Lot 50 New Market Street, Georgetown, is charged with unlawfully assaulting Samantha Barran and threatening behaviour towards her on September l5 in Duke Street, Kingston, also in the city.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
According to Police Corporal Bharat Mangru, prosecuting, about 09:15 hrs that day, the wife refused to answer a question her husband asked her and, as a result, he pelted an iron at her but she avoided being hit and he then dealt her a slap in the face.
The magistrate ordered the husband and wife to get counseling from the Help and Shelter Organisation and return to court on November 1.
