Young man needs assistance for life-saving surgery

THE family of 24-year-old Lakeram Jairam is seeking the public’s assistance to help cover the expenses for urgent surgery since he was diagnosed with aneurysm, a condition in an artery of the brain.

altIt is a life-threatening condition that needs to be operated on within a matter of days and the operation is slated to be performed in Trinidad, at  an estimated cost of US$40,000.
According to family members, they became aware of Jairam’s condition almost a month ago when they took him to a doctor for a medical check-up after he had complained of severe headaches.
In the circumstances, his relatives are pleading with corporate Guyana and the general public for financial assistance to save the life of the young man who still has a bright future ahead of him.
Lakeram is currently employed at Trust Company Guyana Limited and was formerly attached to the Guyana and Trinidad Mutual Group of Companies.
Lakeram’s relatives and friends who spoke to this publication last week described the young man as being a simple, down-to-earth individual who has never found himself in any sort of trouble.
Those persons who wish to offer financial support are asked to do so through the Demerara Bank Account Number:  2335040,  which has been set up for this cause, or via  contact telephone numbers: 665-2318, 653-5024 and 234-1652.
An aneurysm occurs when part of a blood vessel (artery) or cardiac chamber swells, either the blood vessel is damaged or there is a weakness in the wall of the blood vessel.
As blood pressure builds up it balloons out at its weakest point. The swelling can be quite small or very large and when it’s large, it tends to extend along the blood vessel. As the aneurysm grows there is a greater risk of rupture and this can lead to severe haemorrhaging and other complications, including sudden death, according to medicalnewstoday.com.
