THE police conducted a drug-eradication exercise on Wednesday last at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, where nine fields of cannabis sativa (marijuana or ganja) were destroyed.
During the operation, nine fields of marijuana, comprising approximately 85,000 plants ranging in height from three feet to 10 feet were found and destroyed along with seven nurseries with seedlings and three camps.
However, no arrest was made.
This raid came on the heels of one conducted by the police two days before, on Monday, also in Yarrowkabra.
Police arrested two men and destroyed 10 acres of marijuana plants during Monday’s narcotics-eradication operation.
Police, in a statement following that raid, said two fields of marijuana plants, about 10 acres in size, were found with approximately 100,000 plants ranging in height between three feet and 10 feet.
The plants were destroyed along with nurseries and a large quantity of seedlings and three camps.
