SIXTY-NINE-YEAR-OLD pensioner Mandree Singh, of Danielstown Village, was ordered to post $50,000 bail last Monday when she appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Charity Court, on the Essequibo Coast.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to a possession of cocaine charge.
She was charged after a police raid on September 13, during which the sexagenarian was, allegedly, found with one gramme of the narcotic.
Police Prosecutor Krishnadatt Ramana told the Court that, upon seeing the ranks, the woman took a plastic bag and dropped it in her latrine but it was quickly recovered and, when opened, was found to contain the substance.
Police then told her of their suspicion, which she denied before being arrested, the prosecutor said.
Singh is the mother of mini-bus driver Ricardo Chester who is on remand in prison for a similar offence.
