LABA/Trophy Stall Regulation B/ball Championship – Neils returns as Kings topple Pistons

NATIONAL captain Steve Neils (Jr) returned to help his team Kashif and Shanghai Kings win their game against Wismar Pistons 53-43, after their shocking first-game loss to minnows Block 22 Flames, as action in this year’s Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA)-organised, Trophy Stall Regulation championship continued last Wednesday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court.

Neils was noticeably not among the players who were soundly beaten by Flames, but they regrouped in the second, with Omally Sampson contributing 14 points together with Neils’ 12, to ensure the defending champions recover to remain in contention in the championship.
Akeel Primo had a good game for nine points and Orin Rose added seven for the Kings; Dwight Cooper had the top score for the Pistons with 14 points, K Bascom getting 13 in the losing cause.
The action continues tonight with a double-header which pits Half Mile Bulls against Bankers Trust Falcons in the first game at 19:30hrs, while in the feature game Amelia’s Ward Jets and Retrieve Raiders do battle from 21:00hrs.
