Bandits murder 75-year-old Corentyne businessman

ABDUL Majid, 75, of No. 70 Village,  Corentyne, was strangled to death at his home on Sunday by two men who had posed as customers wanting to purchase bolts and nuts from his hardware store which he operated beneath his home.

According to reports from the shocked community, the men called out to Majid who proceeded to attend to them and it is believed that he was killed during the transaction.
The men then turned their attention to the dead man’s wife, Isha Majid, who was in the kitchen and they dragged her to the upper flat of the building where they terrorized her and carted of approximately $1M in cash and jewellery.
The ‘B’ Division Police visited the scene and are continuing their investigations.
