Accountant threatened to kill another woman and verbally abused her – court told

AN ACCOUNTANT, who appeared in court charged with threatening to kill another woman and verbally abusing her, was released on self-bail last Thursday.

Jennifer St. Romain, 58, of Lot 48 Sheriff Street, Campbellville, denied the charges when it was read to her by Chief Magistrate, Priya Seewnarine Beharry.
It is alleged that on July 2 on Sherriff Street, she made use of abusive and threatening language towards Bibi Khan whereby a breach of the peace may be occasioned. It was also alleged that on July 14, she further made use of threatening language towards the woman.
According to Sergeant Bharat Mangru, prosecuting, on July 2 the virtual complainant went into her yard and heard loud music. She later discovered St Romain in her yard holding a mop stick and it was then that the defendant allegedly started to call her names and threatened to kill her. A few weeks later on July 14, while Khan was going to a masjid, the defendant is said to have called her a ‘cross’ (a blight) and threatened to kill her. The matter was then reported to the station and St Romain was arrested and charged.
The magistrate placed St Romain on self-bail and transferred the matter to Court 8 and 9 for trial on September 16.
