Gun threat defendant refused bail

FIDEL Collins, a mechanic and taxi driver of Lot 627 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was remanded to prison yesterday, on charges of threatening language and unlawful assault.

Before Magistrate Judy Latchman he denied the allegations that, on Thursday, August 29, he threatened Denise Jackman and, on Friday, August 30, also in East Ruimveldt, he unlawfully assaulted her.
The woman said she and Collins did not have a problem but another man, Mark Solomon was held by police and she was called to Eve Leary for questioning about Solomon, who is a friend of Collins.
Jackman said, as a result, Solomon started to interfere with her whenever she passed.
She said he was being abusive to her and became annoyed and slapped her when she went to make a complaint to his mother, on the Thursday, telling her he is not Solomon and will kill her.
Jackman said the next day, she saw him on the West Ruimveldt Back Road and he approached her with a gun and told her that he would end her life, but the driver and conductor of a minibus assisted her by taking her home.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, had no objection to bail but it was refused and Collins has to be back in Court on September 25.
