A FISHERMAN, who, allegedly, irritated by being questioned lashed a policeman across his back, was remanded to prison yesterday, when he appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman.
Fezal Mohammed, 42, is charged with having assaulted Jermaine Yocht to cause him actual bodily harm on September 6, at Yarrow Dam, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
The father of four pleaded not guilty and Defence Counsel Paul Fung-a-Fat told the Court that the policeman had forced his way into the defendant’s home without being invited.
However, Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, said the rank had gone to Mohammed’s house to question him about a report that was made.
The prosecutor said the defendant, suddenly, picked up a piece of wood and struck the officer on his back and the blow caused a swelling.
The case was transferred to another Court for September 20.
