Man jailed for selling house by false pretence

A MAN who sold a $10M house by pretending to be someone else was, yesterday, sentenced to 35 months imprisonment.

Magistrate Sueanna Lovell inflicted the penalty on Tyrone Semple alias ‘Gaga’,44, of Lot 59 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
He had pleaded not guilty but was convicted of the offence, particulars of which said, on March 15, 2011, with intention to defraud, he used a power of attorney and a sales document and pretended to be Gregory James and got $6M for the property.
Police Corporal Bharat Mangru, prosecuting, led evidence that Semple sold the building to Peter Ramcharran for $10M but only obtained the $6M.
The Court was told that the forgery authorised Semple, through Ingrid and Christine James, to sell the edifice at Lot 10 Area ‘G’ Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara.
