THE Mayor and City Council (M&CC), yesterday, postponed the planned discussion on the garbage situation at the National Library auditorium, due to the poor attendance.
The forum has now been rescheduled for Thursday, September 12, at the same venue, City Hall Public Relations Officer Royston King said.
He said that meeting will gather input from various stakeholders to be included in a framework being drafted to address the city’s solid waste problem and acknowledged that the municipality does not have the capacity to deal with it.
Meanwhile, Mayor Hamilton Green apologised to those who attended and blamed the lack of a larger audience on poor communication.
Nevertheless, he admitted that the collection and disposal of garbage, as well as drainage and keeping the surroundings clean in the capital are the Council’s responsibility.
Green pointed out that, to keep the city in top shape, the Council requires money, proper management and manpower and these significant three are lacking, hence the inability to carry out the tasks.
