Injured quartet in Wednesday Toroparu accident identified

GUYANESE Clint Guntat, Junior Daniel, and Deraun Chappell, together with Brazilian Audie Tastano (no ages or addresses given), have been identified as the persons injured in the Toroparu road accident that occurred in Region 7(Cuyuni/Mazaruni) on Wednesday afternoon.

The quartet, working with the Pereira Mining Company at a camp in the Puruni area, was en route to Puruni when the mishap occurred at approximately 18:00hrs. The truck in which they were travelling developed some problems and toppled.

The Guyana Chronicle was informed that they were the only persons in the vehicle at the time.

Following the occurrence, the men were rushed to the Toroparu Airstrip, from where they were air-dashed by the chartered Roraima Airways craft to the Ogle International Airport, East Coast Demerara at about 21:20hrs, accompanied by a doctor and another health worker. They were then taken to the Woodlands Hospital in Georgetown.

Up to late yesterday, they were still being treated by doctors.
