At Demerara Assizes… : Jury sworn for Caneville murder trial

A MIXED jury was sworn, yesterday, for the murder of Orpheus Johnson also called Anthony Johnson at the Demerara Assizes.
He is indicted, before Justice James Bovell-Drakes, for the unlawful killing of Brenda Charles, at Caneville, East Bank Demerara, between August 7 and 8, 2009.
Before the jurors took the oath, six of them were challenged by the Prosecution and the Defence.
Prosecuting State Counsel Natasha Backer will deliver her opening address on Tuesday.
Other attorneys-at-law Mr. Peter Hugh, Ms. Latchmie Rahamat and Ms. Onasis Granville are appearing for the prisoner.
