THE Chief Education Officer, Mr. Olato Sam reported, yesterday, that after meeting with the Board Members of the St Rose’s High School, the latter are currently working on an action plan which will guide the way forward on the issue of space allocation with St. Agnes Primary School, which shares the same compound.
Last Monday, on the first day of the new school year, the Grade Six students of St. Agnes, who are preparing to write the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) examination next year, were locked out of their classrooms.
This was because persons, without official authorisation, blocked access for St. Agnes Primary on Sunday night, using a padlock on the main door, preventing entry to the upper flat of the building.
Sam, speaking to the Guyana Chronicle by telephone, said the issue has been fully resolved and the students are back in their classrooms.
The misunderstanding between St. Agnes and St. Rose’s, over allotted space, has existed for some time and the ministry had been working to address the problem.
