TWO men were allowed self-bail yesterday on charges of unlawful wounding and assault before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

Uman Bissessar, of Lot 132 Annandale, East Coast Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the allegation that said, on Sunday, September 1, in Regent Street, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Ricardo Jagdeo.
Jagdeo also denied a charge that, the same day, in Regent Street, he unlawfully assaulted Bissessar.
Attorney-at-law, Ms. Omeyanna Hamilton, representing Bissessar, told the court that he is a businessman and father of three with a previous conviction for a minor offence of using threatening language.
Both defendants were put on bonds to keep the peace pending the determination of the cases which will be called again on September 11.
