IT HAS been disclosed by Head of the Presidential Secretariat and Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger Luncheon, at his weekly post-cabinet media briefing, that Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee will be heading Government’s delegation to the two-day Presidential Engagement Initiative in Suriname on September 6.
Dr Luncheon said the focus of the enagement would continue to be on expanding bilateral ties between Guyana and Suriname, and on cooperation and collaboration in law enforcement and revenue protection.
Luncheon advised that the visit would see participation of high level security sector and revenue protection practitioners from Guyana, including Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Gary Best; Police Commissioner Leroy Brumell; Commissioner General of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), Mr. Khurshid Sattaur; and head of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU), Mr. James Singh, among other persons.
Luncheon said this visit would reciprocate one made by a similarly composed Surinamese delegation in 2011 under the same presidential engagement, which is the brainchild of former Guyanese President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo and his Surinamese counterpart, Desi Bouterse.
