RESIDENTS of Middle Road, East Ruimveldt witnessed an uproarious start to their usually tranquil Sunday, after an apparently simmering feud between two men exploded into a public confrontation in the streets.

Reports reaching the Guyana Chronicle indicate that the two combatants, who are known by the names “Gun Butt” and “Travis”, were involved in an altercation prior to this one.
According to sources, at around 09:00 hours yesterday Gun Butt, wielding a machete, charged at Travis, who was traversing the street on a motor cycle.  In retaliation, sources said, Travis hurled acid at his assailant, who, however, avoided the worst effects of the substance by ducking in time. Nevertheless, the sources said that Gun Butt sustained some injuries to his neck, side and back.
The Guyana Chronicle was told that the acid thrower, Travis, ditched the motor cycle in the streets and made good his escape on foot. An inflamed Gun Butt, one of whose legs is in a cast from foot to knee, could not give chase and subsequently proceeded to ‘butcher’ the motor cycle with his machete. The racket created by Gun Butt’s mauling of the bike brought anxious and, in some cases, barely clad residents out of their homes to investigate.
Sources told this publication that police officers who were on a regular patrol of the area passed by the scene a mere ten minutes after the events unfolded, and subsequently summoned detectives from the East La Penitence police station.
