ONE-MONTH old Taquyah Shepherd of Linden and 23-year old Annastacia Ford of Ituni died on the spot yesterday afternoon following an accident on the Linden Highway.

The bus reportedly clipped the car and the driver of the minibus lost control. The bus then hit the rail of the bridge and flipped off the bridge into the creek below.
The accident occurred at approximately 15.30 hours as the minibus was heading to the city. As the bus went when down it is believed that the 23-year old woman suffered a heart attack and died.
Meanwhile, as the bus connected with the water below persons scrambled to get out leaving the one old baby behind even as the mother 24 year old June Shepherd screamed that she was not finding her baby.
Last evening a source close to the treatment team of the injured said that they were still trying to ascertain if the baby died as a result of the accident or he the baby drowned.
Up to late last evening several persons were being treated at the Linden Hospital Complex where they were rushed after the accident. This newspaper was informed that miraculously apart from the two deaths, no one suffered life threatening injuries nor was anyone critical at the hospital.
Each year there is some usual road lawlessness with drivers and other motorists and road users who travel along the Linden highway especially at Jamzone.
There has never been a year where the police traffic department did not have to record accidents in relation to the Jamzone traffic.
Among some of the road lawlessness witnessed each year is driving without seat belts, using the cell phone while driving, driving under the influence, driving motor vehicles without proper documentation, speeding and overtaking on double lines, turns and bridges.
Yesterday’s accident was as a result of the latter.
