Jamaica beat T&T to win Super50 title

ST GEORGE’S, Grenada (CMC) – Jamaica trounced Trinidad and Tobago by seven wickets to win the West Indies Women Super50 competition which climaxed yesterday at the Tanteen playing field in St George’s

Stefanie Taylor grabbed three wickets to knock the wind out of the Trinidad innings after they won the toss and decided to take first knock in a lopsided affair.
Taylor finished with leading figures of three for 13 and engineered a batting collapse as the losing finalists crumbled for 83 runs in 38 overs.
Taylor’s efforts to contain their opponents were supported by Shanel Daley who picked up two wickets for 9 runs.
Solid innings from Natasha McLean and Chinelle Henry steered Jamaica to their victory target in 21.1 overs.
Henry cracked six fours before she was bowled for 31 while McLean, who hit three fours, was not out on 22.
Jamaica were the only team to have played unbeaten throughout the tournament.
Taylor, who scored ten runs in addition to her three-wicket haul, was adjudged player-of-the-match.
The West Indies Women T20 tournament bowls off tomorrow at venues across Grenada.
