Claude Petrie, 44, of Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, received a gunshot wound to the head and is a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) following a surgical operation to remove the bullet that was lodged.
Several persons were arrested and are being questioned following the shooting incident in which Claude Petrie, was shot and injured on Saturday night in the vicinity of Rockies Brazilian Bar and Nigel’s Supermarket at the corner of Robb and Light Streets, Georgetown.
Claude Petrie, 44, of Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, received a gunshot wound to the head and is a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) following a successful surgical operation to remove the bullet that was lodged. He is reported to be in a stable condition.
He regained consciousness yesterday and was interviewed by the police.
Petrie, a taxi driver said he had gone to the location to meet a friend when he was shot and could not recall what transpired.
He said that when he regained consciousness he was in the hospital and the same friend took him to the GPHC where he received medical attention.
The man added that he does not have any problems with anyone and cannot say what may have caused the shooting.
Meanwhile, the police reported that at about 21:15 hours on Saturday taxi-driver Claude Petrie, who apparently goes also by the name Troy Anthony Patrice of Lodge Housing Scheme, Georgetown was standing on the roadway at Robb and Light Streets, when shots were discharged at him by persons who escaped in a vehicle.
