We need our own National Flag Carrier

TOURISM, Industry and Commerce Minister, Irfaan Ali reiterated a call on Tuesday inviting CAL executives to come to Guyana for an urgent meeting.

CAL Executives will come to Guyana. They will sit, they will listen to all complaints, they will say “we are sorry and it won’t happen again” but the price remains the same for Guyanese.
CAL might reduce the price just a bit to make the government happy but once they leave Guyana it will be back to “CAL business as usual over Guyanese”. The maltreatment of Guyanese by CAL will continue.
Many are asking why CAL is doing this to Guyanese.
The media knows about my personal experience by CAL officials in Trinidad when in transit many times.
The tourism minister had this to say: “I find this to be a situation of abusing the present monopoly that they have in Guyana, and they do have a monopoly; this is why they are taking us for granted, they are taking this market for granted and they are reaping in great profits maybe to make up for the deficiency in other markets.”
Mr. Minister, you must be asked who give CAL that monopoly.
In my opinion CAL’s best interest is to sabotage Guyana’s tourism industry in favour of Trinidad’s tourism which has been in total shambles over the past few years because of the world economy.
Mr. Minister, it should not be about fat profits but more like pride for our government to have a GUYANA FLAG CARRIER where it will not and must never depend on others to move people in and out of our country.
It’s all about pride and it should be!
Get our very own national air carrier and finish with CAL once and for all.
