Man remanded for assault, threatening behaviour against wife

THIRTY-five-year-old Keith Wiggins, a hollow block maker of Lot 35 North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, denied that he choked and assaulted his reputed wife Michelle Mentor with a knife while she was asleep on Friday, August 2, at North Ruimveldt Georgetown; and that he used threatening behaviour against her.

Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, revealed that on the day in question, the defendant went home and saw the virtual complainant sleeping on the floor, and he started to choke her and attack her with a knife.
Hunt successfully opposed bail on the ground that Wiggins had given a false address to the police, saying it was highly unlikely that the defendant would return to court to answer his trial if given pre-trial liberty.
Bail was refused, and the remanded Wiggins is scheduled to return to court on September 6.
