THE Berbice Assizes jury-in-waiting was asked to return on September 3, when the murder trial of Andy Adams is expected to commence.
Justice Navindra Singh, presiding in the assizes, granted the adjournment requested by defence counsel Joel Edmond, who related that he needed to be briefed by his client.
However, Justice Singh told the group of sixty that the State, represented by Ms. Judith Mursalin, was prepared to present the indictment.
Following the departure of the jurors-in-waiting, Justice Singh ordered a probation report on the prisoner’s background prior to his incarceration six years ago.
That report should be at the court’s disposal by August 29, while the author of the document must be at the criminal court on September 3.
The accused had been arrested in July 2007 when just eighteen years old. He is accused of killing Nazamadeen Khan on July 27, 2007 in Berbice.
