Police probing violent deaths of two guards and Port Kaituma businessman

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of watchman, Frederick Minty, 78, of Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice, who succumbed on August 04, 2013, at the GPHC.

Investigations have revealed that Minty was beaten by two men while on duty at his work site during the night of August 01, 2013.
 
Meanwhile, police are investigating the murder of watchman, Darndey King, 64, of Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara, whose body was found in a mining camp at White Water, Konawaruk, on July 30, 2013.
 
A post-mortem examination was performed on the body on Monday by Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh, who gave the cause of death as brain haemorrhage due to multiple blunt trauma.
 
In a separate incident, at about 20:00 hrs on August 03, 2013, the body of businessman John Jeffrey, 40, of Oronoque, Port Kaituma, North West District (NWD), was found in his shop with suspected gunshot injuries.
 
The body is at the Port Kaituma Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
 
Investigations are in progress.
