The objectives of the camp were to raise awareness of the relationship between human society and nature, to allow children to interact with the natural environment, and to provide a forum for ECHO club members from different parts of Guyana to exchange information on their approaches to dealing with environmental issues, such as garbage disposal, littering in their communities, school gardening, tree planting and maintenance, and energy efficiency.
The event was for members of ECHO clubs in schools in Regions 3, 4, 5, 7 and 10. “This is part of a wider programme planned by the organisation to raise awareness and stimulate interest in the environment among our children.
“Echo remains grateful to all of its supporters, friends and partners, who continue to assist in all activities to promote its advocacy for good environmental stewardship,” the organisation said in a press statement.
