Senior Fire Officer dies in early morning crash

A 47-year old Senior Fire Officer died in an early morning crash yesterday at Fort Wellington, West Coast Berbice. Sub-Officer, Linden Mc Almont reportedly was returning from an event at Fort Wellington, West Coast Berbice to usher in African Emancipation Day when he met his death.

Mc Almont who was based at the Central Fire Station headquarters in Georgetown where he had been responsible for Quarter Master Stores.
A friend who was with him has been seriously injured and was expected to be transferred to a city hospital.
“This has shaken me up. The entire fire service is devastated,” said Fire Chief, Marlon Gentle.
