THIRTEEN staffers of Scotiabank last Saturday spent a total of some 70 hours helping to complete the home of Amanda Anthony, under the Scotiabank/Habitat Build-a-Home promotion. This Saturday coming, July 20, other Scotiabankers are expected to volunteer to complete painting the home at Hope, East Coast Demerara.
Marketing Manager Jennifer Cipriani-Nelson disclosed that Anthony, a widowed mother of two with a disability, is the first beneficiary under a partnership that involves Habitat Guyana, Scotiabank customers, employees, the public and other stakeholders under the Bank’s Bright Future Programme.
Under the programme for Ms. Amanda Anthony, Scotiabank has donated to Habitat for Humanity Guyana Inc. a percentage of the value of Scotia loans, and mortgages applied for and disbursed between March 2013 to date and up to October, 2013.
As at June month end, over $750,000 had been raised through Scotiabank and private donations towards the Amanda Anthony project.
Customers of the Bank who apply for and get the loans are also benefiting.
At the time of disbursement, they   receive entry coupons commensurate with the amount of the disbursement which will give them a chance to win gift certificates for loan installments, jewellery, hardware, spa treatments, groceries, electronics, and clothing in quarterly draws.
