Trio in custody over minibus ganja bust – police find guns at East Ruimveldt, Lethem

THREE men are in police custody following a marijuana (cannabis sativa) bust on Saturday at West Bank Berbice (WBB).

Police said at about 17:30 hrs on July 13, 2013, a party of policemen stopped and searched a minibus at Ithaca, WBB, during which a total of 3 kilograms, 192 grams of cannabis sativa (marijuana) were found.
Three men have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
Meanwhile, three men are also in custody after ranks found an unlicensed gun and three matching rounds of ammunition yesterday in the city.

Police reported that about 04:00hrs on July 14, 2013, ranks of a mobile police patrol recovered an unlicensed .32 pistol with three matching rounds along the roadway in East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
Three men who were in the vicinity have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
In a separate incident, at about 22:10 hrs last Friday ranks of a police patrol challenged two Brazilian nationals who were seen walking under the Takutu Bridge, Lethem, and an unlicensed 20-gauge Rossi shotgun was found in their possession. The men are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
