Defendant bonded after doctor complains of threat

HARRY Permaul (no address given) was put on a six-month bond to keep the peace, with the alternative of 14 days imprisonment, on Thursday, after it was alleged that he used threatening language to Dr. Deonarine Laljeit.

The probationer appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at Albion Court, Corentyne, Berbice, but declined to cross-examine the medical doctor about the charge.
However, in his sworn testimony, Laljeit said Permaul threatened to chop him with a cutlass, on the night of May 24 last, at the Anamayah Memorial Hospital, Hampshire, Corentyne.
The virtual complainant testified that Permaul had an accomplice who was brandishing the cutlass and he became afraid and made a report at Albion Police Station, Corentyne, too.
The magistrate ruled that a case was not made out against the defendant but bonded him, with a warning to refrain from making threats to people.
