A MAN with a raggedy Afro hairstyle, who claimed he is a barber, was remanded to prison last Thursday on a larceny charge.
“If you’re a barber, how come your hair is looking like that?” Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan enquired of Joel Jack when he appeared before her.
The 22-year-old defendant (no address given) is charged with stealing one ‘Blackberry Curve 9220’ and a ‘USB’ charger, property of Zulficar Kaleel, but he pleaded not guilty to the offence, which was allegedly committed on July 3 in Commerce Street, Georgetown.
Police Corporal Bharat Mangru, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for Jack on the grounds that the articles were found in his possession and there is a possibility that he would not return to court if granted pre-trial freedom.
His next court date is July 15.
