Albert Christy, 64, of 408 Victoria Village, East Coast Demerara was last Wednesday granted bail by Magistrate Zamilla Ali when he appeared at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court to answer to a trespassing charge. The dreadlocked man, who is said to be a farmer, was charged for unlawfully entering a plot of land that is allegedly owned by Desmond Saul.
In his defense, Cristy told the court that he has been occupying the very land where he has been farming for over forty-six years now, and he is unaware that he was trespassing and is uncertain about Saul’s claim to ownership of the property.
The father of eleven was then granted his pretrial liberty and released on $5,000 bail by Magistrate Alli.
