THE Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Anna Regina Town Council, in collaboration with the Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) Administration and the Business Community/Stakeholders Planning Committee, has scheduled the launch of the first ever Town Day celebrations for July 5. IMC Chairman, Mr. Toolsie Narine said the formality will be held on the lawns of the Anna Regina Town Hall to kick off the August 23 to 25 programme.
He said a team, headed by Planning Committee Member Raul Pearce has started preparing for the launching ceremony.
According to the Chairman, all the media houses, including radio, newspapers and television stations countrywide have been invited to cover the event.
Narine said the public will be updated on the planned activities, several of which the Planning Committee is working hard to organise.
Among them are a big cultural show, a street lime, an exhibition, Anna Regina Town Queen Pageant, street football, other sports, interaction with the public on development of the township, an inter-faith service and a social evening.
The opening is expected to feature rich cultural presentations from within the Region and several addresses by Government officials.
Anna Regina became a town on August 1, 1990 and the first Mayor was the late Mrs. Etwaria Kumar.
