THE Education Department in Region 2 (Pomeroon/Supenaam), in collaboration with the Parent Teachers Associations (PTAs) of nursery, primary and secondary schools, has formed a new regional body.

It is reported, from the Cotton Field, Essequibo Coast office, that the new grouping was established on June 3 at a general meeting.
Each of the participating PTAs was asked to send a representative to a workshop after that meeting was held to elect the members.
The new body is to represent all the PTAs of schools across the region on matters concerning policies governing schools.
Those elected to its Executive Committee are President, Ms. Vereena Rasheed; Secretary, Ms. Seeranie Gobin; Treasurer, Ms. Marva Chapelle and Assistant Secretary, Ms. Lucindra David.
The nine committee members are Potula Brummel, Savena Cordis, Verna Gouvieia, Verna De Aguiar, Amanda Bacchus, Ena Carter, Tillachwattie Sukhai, Carmillita Daniels and Michelle Boyan.
