In Festival City… : Food For The Poor conducts collaborative outreach

FOOD For The Poor(Guyana) Inc. (FFTP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Dental School, Diamond Diagnostic Centre and the Chest Clinic, conducted a medical outreach yesterday, at its Festival City Complex, in North Ruimveldt, Georgetown. The 09:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs programme was just one of the ways chosen to give back to the community by FFTP, which marked its 22nd anniversary in Guyana on June 3.
Services offered yesterday included screening for blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis and dental and eye care. Serious cases were referred to hospitals or diagnostic centres.
Some 30 medical personnel were present to conduct the exercise and the beneficiaries, to whom the Guyana Chronicle spoke, all said they were happy to have the services made available to them.
FFTP, a charitable non-governmental organisation (NGO) supports  a number of projects that offer relief to afflicted persons.
To spread its benefits through aid, it has established a number of committees and groups in areas where the need is most felt and much wanted largess is distributed.
FFTP provides life-saving nutrition to children through its nutritional enhancement programmes, builds houses for poor families who require shelter, supports orphanages and homes for the elderly and medical care and supplies to hospitals and clinics.
