Installation of that system had been done by the Dutch firm, HM Prospective Services Inc of Holland, and that firm has been recommended to install this new PLC, because production of the previous one has been discontinued. The DHB would have extended its inventory of spares and made adjustments to the control panel for continued operation of the bridge with this new system.
This new PLC system is fully automated and computerized, has online maintenance support from the contractors, and will have little or no manual injection here. The unit comes at an approximate cost of Gy$16.1M, and its installation will in no way hamper the daily operation of the DHB.
This newspaper has noticed engineers from both entities working at installing the controls on the four huts on the bridge.(Mark Bradford)
