GMSA to host crucial GuyExpo 2013 meeting with business community

The Guyana Manufacturing & Services Association (GMSA) Ltd is observing its 50th Anniversary this year and will be  partnering with the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce for GuyExpo 2013 to create a veritable Trade and Investment forum with greater CARICOM and international participation.
GUYEXPO is scheduled to run from Thursday 3rd to Monday 7th October

2013 under the theme: “Advancing Productivity through Innovation, Modernization and Expansion”.
The role the GMSA has undertaken is to encourage backward and forward business linkages for local entrepreneurs in the productive and services sectors.  The Expo will feature a number of business sessions focused on investment promotion, partnerships and outsourcing of offshore inputs.

The GMSA intends to strongly influence three major outcomes and these include establishment of business partnerships between and among Guyanese and overseas-based entrepreneurs, emergence of new businesses from under-utilized natural resources in Guyana.
This would include kaolin and foreign direct investments (FDI), primarily in four specific sectors – Wood/Timber Processing, Agro-Processing (including Apiculture), Arts and Craft (Ceramics, Wood, Leather, etc.) and Services (emphasis on Sports and Eco-Tourism, Fashion Designing, Environmental Management, ICT, Health & Wellness, etc.)
These benchmarks will only be achieved with maximum buy-in by the local business community including manufacturers across the business spectrum, commercial wholesalers and retailers, and service providers.
In that light, the GMSA is inviting members of the business community to participate in a crucial discussion on Thursday13th June, 2013 at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) pavilion at 10.00 am.
The association plans to shape its involvement in GuyExpo around the main issues that concern local businesses such as the prospects for acquiring materials from Caribbean and other markets that would add value to and expand production efficiencies.
Over the past five  years approximately, the main thrust of this Business Support Organisation  towards entrepreneurial development has been creating business partnerships between and among local, regional and international enterprises.
GuyExpo this year will provide the right environment for entrepreneurs in and outside of Guyana to engage each other in wide ranging discussions on trade and investment issues, the GMSA added.
