TWENTY-three-year-old Shamieza Ramdatt of Kuru Kuru, Soesdyke/ Linden Highway, EBD was brutally killed yesterday, allegedly by her 40-year-old reputed husband, Shameer Ali, who then attempted suicide by slitting his throat.
He was, however, quickly rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Hospital before being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), where up to late last night his condition was listed as critical.
Information reaching the Guyana Chronicle was that after committing the act in the unfenced yard the couple had shared, the assailant fled the scene, but was found hiding in some bushes nearby.
A close relative explained that the two had shared a very steamy relationship before things began to get cold when the now dead woman allegedly began seeing someone else, turning her relationship with her reputed husband into a triangular love affair.
As their relationship deteriorated, they had found themselves involved in frequent arguments which never seemed to end. A female neighbour told this publication that she used to hear the couple arguing from time to time, with the man passionately accusing the woman of being unfaithful, and the woman vehemently denying this.
However, their relationship was thrown into jeopardy yesterday when the now hospitalized man unexpectedly showed up at home and reportedly found the woman in the company of a man at their humble place of abode.
One resident suggested that the woman and the man were found in a comprising position, and this provoked Ali into a rage and he attacked the woman. The man who had allegedly been in Ramdatt’s company reportedly fled the area in fear of his life.
Up to late yesterday, police were still investigating the matter, questioning persons who might have seen what had transpired. The police are also trying to locate the man who reportedly had been at the woman’s home when her reputed husband arrived there yesterday.
