THIRTY-SIX-YEAR-OLD George Khan of Lot 91 Second Street, Alexander Village, Georgetown, was yesterday granted $100,000 bail when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine Beharry to answer a break and enter and larceny charge.
It was alleged that between June 1 and 2 at North Road and King Street, Georgetown, he stole one case of water, one music set, one microwave, one bin, crates of eggs and three cases of soda, a total loss of $81,420 to Mohamed Dudnath.
Police Sergeant Vernetta Pindar, prosecuting, told the court that police were on mobile patrol and found the defendant about a half hour away from the crime scene with the articles in his possession.
Khan in his defence told the court that he was coming out from the movies and was about to take a taxi when the police approached him and claimed that they found the articles in his possession.
According to his lawyer, Mr. Paul Fung-a-fat there was no
eyewitness to prove his client had committed the offence.
Khan was ordered to return to court on June 17.
