THE BOSAI Minerals Group (Guyana) Inc yesterday acquired three MACORP Diesel Generating Sets which they will rent for approximately three months, to bolster the electricity system which obtains currently in Linden.
The situation had led to the Linden bauxite company bringing its operations to a halt and the community being faced with load shedding.
The generating sets, along with three transformers, were yesterday being installed to go directly into operation against the backdrop of load shedding which has been experienced since last Friday, when two of the five operating Wartsila Diesel Engines went down unexpectedly.
An initial release from the BOSAI Minerals Group (Guyana) Inc Assistant Community Relations Officer, Ms Vanessa Mitchell-Davis, had stated that at approximately 19.00hrs on May 16, the Bosai power plant developed technical problems with the numbers 3 & 4 generating units, causing a partial shutdown of power to the plant and community.
Experts from the United States are expected to be flown in during the week, and by weekend, work on the defective Wartsila Diesel engines should commence.
The BOSAI power plant, which is owned by the majority owners in BOSAI Minerals Group Inc., expects to have some degree of normalcy to the production of electrical power by tomorrow, as they put systems in place for its distribution. Speaking to this newspaper yesterday, Bosai power plant supervisor, Oswald Lennox Prince, shortly after the arrival from Georgetown of the MACORP diesel generating sets, informed, “We have rented three sets from Macorp and these sets are rated for 1.6MW, giving us a total of 4.8MW when in operation.
He continued, “The plan is to put back the area in normalcy and that should be about tomorrow afternoon.”
