Prime suspect in city hotel murder nabbed at Supenaam- joined boat at Parika, reportedly fleeing to Venezuela

POLICE yesterday finally captured their prime suspect in the murder of 30-year-old Maryann Nauth who was discovered early Mother’s Day in a pool of blood in Room 109 at the K & VC Hotel on South Road, Georgetown.

A senior police source yesterday confirmed that the man whom the police had been looking for since Sunday was captured in Essequibo, Region 2. This publication was told that the man who is now in police custody was identified as having being in the company of the woman hours prior to her death.
The police had been seeking 35-year-old Vinod Balgobin who is said to have an East Coast Demerara address.
Up to press time last evening Balgobin was being detained at a police station in the city where he is being questioned by investigators.
The Guyana Chronicle was informed that the man may have been on his way to Venezuela when he was captured.
One source told this newspaper that the man was spotted boarding a speed boat at Parika and the police were notified. When he arrived at Supenaam he was apprehended by the lawmen.
The man was detained at a police station in Region 2 and then transported under police guard to the Parika Station before being escorted to the city.
Last Saturday night, Maryann Nauth, a mother of three, checked into the hotel with a man and she was later found in a room with multiple stab wounds and a knife was stuck between her breasts.
