MY father, Mr. Kalyanan, who worked as secretary to the internationally revered leader and Father of India, Mahatma Gandhi, has asked me to condemn the recent Kaieteur News article written by Freddie Kissoon vilifying the Mahatma, and to express the indignation and disgust of the people of India who are demanding an apology from the writer and the newspaper.
The article is riddled with lies and dream statements aimed at assassinating the Mahatma’s impeccable and incorruptible character.
Kissoon killed the truth in that article and this will never be forgotten by the Indian people.
The world will not be able to get another Mahatma Gandhi who will always be remembered for his teachings and practice of non-violence and passive resistance, truth and love.
India greatly values freedom of the press as a key component of democratic governance and the importance of freedom of expression in every region of the world. But the utter lies and dream statements written by Freddie Kissoon in one of the nastiest piece of writings to sully the name of one of the greatest human beings to grace this world, has interfered and upset the hearts of the over one billion Indian people.
Kissoon’s open hatred for East Indians has now gone beyond the boundaries of Guyana.
We need an open apology from the Kaieteur News now!
