Two more charged with businesswoman robbery also remanded

TWO men, charged with robbery under arms, were remanded to prison yesterday by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Duncan Vanfield, of Lot 149 D’Anrade Street, Newtown, Georgetown and Shane Morgan (no address given) both pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said that, on Saturday, April 20, at Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara, being armed with guns, they robbed Kim Sarwan of one Blackberry Bold, valued $73,000 and a set of ‘Perry Ellis’ cologne worth $250,000 and $1M in cash, making a total loss of $1,323,000 to the victim. Police Sergeant Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant is a self-employed businesswoman who deals in cologne and resides at Lot 54 First Street, Covent Garden.
He said, on the day of the robbery, the duo, armed with handguns, pretended to be customers and robbed the woman, and Police, acting on information received, had the perpetrators positively indentified by Sarwan on an identification parade.
The prosecutor successfully objected to bail for the men. The case was transferred to Providence Court for May 15.
Meanwhile, their alleged accomplice, taxi driver Dane Madramootoo, of Lot 173 Industry, East Coast Demerara, pleaded not guilty to same offence last Friday and, he, too, was remanded to prison and will make his next appearance at Providence on May 15, too.
