Fined prisoner must do community service in jail

SHEMROY Hackett (no address given) appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, last Friday, when he pleaded guilty to a drug charge.
He admitted that, on Thursday, May 9, at Camp Street Prison in Georgetown, he had four grammes of cannabis sativa (marijuana). The prisoner disclosed that he had been serving time for attempted robbery and, on conviction for having the narcotic, he was fined $3,000 and ordered to perform six months community service in the same jail.
